I wanted to create a logo that referred to Venus, the goddess of beauty. It immediately made me think of 'The birth of Venus', a painting made by Botticelli. In the painting, Venus stands on a shell and that's why I used a shell in my logo.

I chose this famous painting, “La nascita di Venere” by Sandro Botticelli, because I really think it’s a symbol of beauty, maybe the symbol of beauty. Venere is wonderful, because Botticelli studied the beauty canons of that age... but what makes the painting perfect is the way the artist painted it. He used very light colours, doing brush stokes very softly, in harmony each one with the others: this gives the touch of perfection to the painting. I’d say that Botticelli painted the meeting of art and beauty.

I have drawn a woman, because when I think of beauty, I think of pretty women. She meets the beauty standards of today: remarkable collarbones, long hair, long eyelashes, eyebrows in a good shape,... But there are little imperfections that make her even more pretty in my eyes. Maybe not to everyone, but to me she is. Because beauty is subjective.

The colours of the poppy and the bee (black-yellow and red)are representing Belgium. Flowers are beautiful but can't survive without the working spirit of the bees. They need each other and together they stand strong. That's pure beauty!

The beautiful Peacock Beauty is everywhere were you looking at. Beauty is hidden in most things. In nature there is a lot of beauty as well. That’s the reason I have drawn a peacock. Everyone has a beauty in his own life. There are many people with a passion, most of the people haven’t discovered it yet. My favourite animal is a peacock because this animal is very pretty and social. This animal is majestic with a secret life. I really love the peacock. I like the colours that I used. It looks like the beauty is discovered everywhere. I want to emphasize the feathers of this animal. The peacock has a crown on his head that means that a beauty can be a king or a queen.

I have chosen to draw something about music because music means a lot to me in life.. If I hear any kind of music, I also need to sing along. I know a lot of songs. When I step to the bus, I always listen at the same song. The song is glorious of Mackel More. The song is about a grandmother who is 100 years and what they want to do for her birthday, and that you are still beautiful in that age.

I think that people who are somewhat broader are still beautiful. In the past, it was the beauty ideal. Women with curves are beautiful as well. The mannequin represents a women with a larger size wearing the ribbon of miss universe. I have incorporated the ribbon into a tape measure that disappears in the distance with the intention that it goes away into infinity, you will still be a princess because of the crown.

I have taken graceful curls for elegance to come up because this is (for me anyway) a characteristic for beauty and it reminds me of the classical antiquity.I have chosen those feathers to show softness. The letters are in gold because some statues of gods in the classical antiquity also are made in gold. It is a circle to symbolise the bond between all types of beauty that man can find.

To embody Bis Project’s content, Beauty canons through history, I choosed different
symbols of beauty:1) the ancient big greek eye;2) a face in profile like an imperial portrait from late Gothic (Piero della Francesca).3) the Roman Crimson red and the “sinopsis” Pompeian red, it’s a colour thatsymbolises the beauty of Roman empire, that represents strong emotions: love, rage, revenge, passion…4) blue, the colour of the sky and the sea. In ancient Egypt it was the coulour oppositeto red and it was the coulour of infinite beauty and wisdom: god Amon, air god, hadhis skin totally blu. In Christian times, blu has become Mother Mary’s colour toevoke feminine beauty, calm and serenity.

Human body, faces, eyes are pivotal figures throughout the times, throughout thebeauty of all times.

If you turn this logo upsidedown it represents a boat, the boat of life. And on ancientboat bows there was always an eye.

I used chalks to draw this logo because the technique of sidewalk chalk drawing isnowadays beauty, it’s street art and young people understand and like it.

So, in the end, for me this logo is a round circle of beauty.
